Have you been considering incorporating a Pinterest marketing strategy this year? You might have heard that it’s a great way to grow your business, increase sales, or even make passive income.
Let’s talk about if you SHOULD be using Pinterest in your marketing plan this year.
Why use pinterest?
Using Pinterest in a marketing strategy is often combined with other social media platforms. But Pinterest is NOT social media, it’s a search engine.
When using Pinterest marketing, you are positioning your content and products by utilizing keywords that your clients and customers are using when searching for solutions.
For example, let’s say you are a Utah based wedding photographer. you might pin a few photos from your latest wedding and use keywords like “Southern Utah Wedding Photographer” or “Park City Utah Weddings” and “Utah Wedding Photos” because you know that brides are going to be looking up all the wedding inspiration on Pinterest.
With Pinterest being a search engine, your Pinterest pins have a longer life expectancy, as well! A pin that utilizes relevant keywords can get you found for on average 2 years, even up to 5+ years! Compare that to your Instagram and TikTok content…game changer 🤯
The last reason to use a Pinterest marketing strategy is because you are able to send direct traffic to a link of your choosing from each pin. So, you can use each piece of content on Pinterest to increase website/direct traffic to: landing pages, opt-in forms, blog posts, YouTube videos, product pages, website pages, and even your social media content.

What to expect when starting with a pinterest marketing strategy
What I see pretty often is that business owners get really excited, start posting on Pinterest, and then give up because they don’t see instant results. And I want to prepare you that 30 days is not enough time on Pinterest to see much of an impact, if any at all.
If you are just starting out on the platform, I want you to plan for 3 months of posting BEFORE you start to really see movement and traction. Why? Because Pinterest is a search engine and it’s going to take time to index your content. Pinterest also wants to see that you are going to be in it for the long game.
While you are excited to get your content on Pinterest, it’s going to take the Pinterest a little bit of time to see who to show your content to, and how people connect with your pins. This requires testing variations of keyword sets and pin design. It’s essential to have PATIENCE & CONSISTENCY when implementing a Pinterest strategy.
If you can be patient with Pinterest marketing, your Pinterest pins that are found in search can send traffic for 18-24 months…sometimes even longer. It’s worth it to put in the time up front to figure out what’s working and focus on the pin design that works for your audience.
